Where does the stairway lead? Is the mystery found at the top or does the adventure begin at the last step? Curiosity is your first step and understanding is what you hope to achieve at the end.

YESTERYEAR'S GRASS
YESTERYEAR’S
GRASS
Sandstone
steps covered with yesteryear’s grass lead to the empty hillside
where once stood the grand two story home with the wrap around porch.
The home looked over the rolling pastures where cows grazed and new
born calves ran and played in the lush green fields of Springs new
growth.
Wooden
chairs provided seats of comfort and the wood slat boards of the
porch was the place of rest for the two red bones and the old blue
tick hound that chased rabbits in there dreams.
Visiting
with those who stopped by passed the evening into night while brother
Herman coaxed tunes with his bow from the fiddle against his chin.
Sweet iced tea refreshed the sounds of our songs as Grandpa slumbered
in his cushioned chair hunting rabbits with his sleeping dogs.
Memories
like yesteryear’s grass once again turn green in the fields of the
mind with the taste of sweet tea and the hum of an old song while I
watch Grandpa chasing rabbits with his hounds, slumbering in my
cushioned chair out on my wrap-around porch.
